Thinking of mother......

Thinking of mother this morning........  And when a person that knew my mother thinks of her, there is just no way around it, laughter has to be involved.  Lord, that woman loved to laugh!  She was also the source of much laughter, but usually she was a good sport because she knew how to laugh at herself.  Oh my goodness, the stories I could tell you that would just crack you up!
Like the time My sisters, a couple of cousins, a couple of aunts (mom's sisters) and of course Mother all went to the beach.  Now you have to be able to visualize things to really appreciate this.  My mother was like a 5 year old child that day.  She was constantly picking up her towel and shaking it on all of us.  And EVERYONE knows, except my mother, that that is poor beach etiquette. lol  She herself was just covered in sand from head to toe like she had been buried from the neck down.  Didn't seem to bother her she just thought we should all be covered from head to toe as well.  There were many things that day that just kept us rolling with laughter. Things she said and, oh lord, things she did!!!  My mother was an avid yard saler something I love to do also.  But most of us know there are just things you just don't buy at yard sales , for example, bathing suites.  You know where this is going don't you?  Well my mother bought her a bathing suit from a yard sale or two. Who knows how she came up with what she was wearing that day!  All I remember is that it didn't match and the top was about two sizes too large. lol  Seriously, I would not tell a lie.  The thing was not a cute little set it was from two different sets! She was forever tightening and straightening the top.  And one time she did not get it tightened in time because one of her sisters looked up and just died laughing, which caused us all to look up.  You know where this is going, don't ya?  Yes!  The next thing we know my Aunt Hazel yells out, through much laughter and sand I might add, "Shirley, pull your top up I can see your boob!  It looks like a fried egg!"  Somehow the top was hanging all caddy-wampus.  One side was up and one side was down, waaaaaay down. lol Well, that was just the highlight of the day, something we will never forget.  Great memories and this, my friend, is a true description of my mom.  Never a dull moment! That day will forever be etched in my mind: The day at the beach with my boob showing, sand slinging, salt water drinking  MoM!

I got the pic from  The Graphics Fairy, great free downloadable vintage graphics!

Yeah, I will save the salt water drinking story for another day. And the Frederick's of Hollywood story,  oooohhhhhh the laughter.  I can still see her smile :) July 31st will be nine years that she left us.  She is smiling down on us now and we are still laughing with her.
